Application Fee & Payment Mode

Processing academic applications, verifying API scores, and arranging expert interview panels requires significant administrative effort, hence an application fee is applicable.

• General / OBC / EWS Category Candidates: Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only).
• SC / ST / PwD Category Candidates: Fully Exempted (Rs. 0/-).
• Female Candidates (All Categories): Fully Exempted (Rs. 0/-).
• Payment Gateway: The fee must be paid purely online through the CU Chayan Portal using a Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. Cash, Demand Drafts, or Postal Orders will not be accepted.

Age Limit Details

Unlike standard government exams, teaching positions in Central Universities follow a different age criteria policy based on UGC rules.

• Minimum Age: There is no strict minimum age limit, but candidates must fulfill the extensive educational and Ph.D. timeline requirements.
• Maximum Age: The retirement age for Central University teaching faculty is 65 years. Therefore, eligible candidates below this age can technically apply, but younger candidates with excellent academic records are generally preferred for Assistant Professor roles.
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of India norms, SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates will receive relaxations in academic marks (a relaxation of 5% in Master's degree marks from 55% to 50%) rather than strict age relaxations.

Eligibility Criteria for CUSB Teaching Posts

The eligibility, qualifications, and experience for all teaching posts are strictly aligned with the "UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges, 2018" and subsequent amendments.

• For Assistant Professor (Level 10): Candidates must possess a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. In addition to this, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or have been awarded a Ph.D. degree strictly in accordance with UGC norms.
• For Associate Professor (Level 13A): A good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned disciplines. A Master's degree with at least 55% marks. A minimum of 8 years of post-PhD teaching or research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE listed journals and a total research score (API) of at least 75.
• For Professor (Level 14): An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. degree. A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a university/college as an Assistant/Associate Professor, or research experience at an equivalent level. Must have a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE listed journals and a total research score (API) of 120.

CUSB Selection Process & API Calculation

The selection process for Faculty positions at CUSB is purely based on academic merit and interview performance. There is no written examination.

1. Screening and API Calculation: All received applications will be scrutinized by an expert committee. Candidates will be evaluated based on their Academic Performance Indicator (API) score, which gives weightage to Graduation marks, Post-Graduation marks, M.Phil, Ph.D., NET with JRF, research publications, teaching experience, and national/international awards.
2. Shortlisting: A merit list will be prepared based on the API score. Only the top-ranking candidates (usually in a ratio of 1:15 or 1:20 per post) will be called for the interview.
3. Personal Interview / Presentation: The shortlisted candidates will face an expert interview panel. They may be asked to give a short teaching presentation (chalk-and-talk or PPT) on a topic of their expertise to assess their communication skills, subject depth, and teaching methodology.
4. Final Merit List: The final selection is based entirely on the performance in the Personal Interview.
