The National Health Mission (NHM), Union Territory of Chandigarh, invites qualified medical specialists for empanelment to provide specialist healthcare services under the prestigious PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM). This unique opportunity allows experienced MBBS doctors with MD/DNB/Diploma qualifications in Medicine or Surgery to serve on a part-time contractual basis while maintaining their existing practice or employment.
This empanelment process will create a pool of specialist doctors who can provide quality healthcare services at various government health facilities across Chandigarh on a flexible slot basis, contributing to strengthening the healthcare infrastructure and improving access to specialist care for citizens.

National Health Mission (NHM) is the flagship program of the Government of India for strengthening the healthcare system in the country. Detailed Vacancy Information
The recruitment is for empanelment of specialists in two categories:
1. Specialist (Medicine):
- Posts: As per requirement
- Specialization: General Medicine, Internal Medicine
- Qualifications: MD/DNB/Diploma in Medicine
- Service: Outpatient consultation, patient examination, diagnosis, treatment prescription
2. Specialist (Surgery):
- Posts: As per requirement
- Specialization: General Surgery
- Qualifications: MS/DNB/Diploma in Surgery
- Service: Surgical consultations, pre-operative assessments, post-operative care guidance
Additional Specialist Requirements:
In addition to Medicine and Surgery specialists, NHM Chandigarh also recruits specialists in:
- Gynaecology & Obstetrics (MD/MS/DGO)
- Paediatrics (MD/DNB)
- Microbiology (MD Microbiology)
- Orthopedics (MS Ortho/DNB)
- Ophthalmology (MS/DNB/DO)

- And other super-specialties as per requirement
Educational Qualification and Registration
For Specialist (Medicine):
Essential Qualifications:
- MBBS degree from a Medical Council of India (MCI) recognized University/Medical College
- MD (Doctor of Medicine) in General Medicine from MCI recognized institution, OR
- DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in General Medicine from NBE, OR
- Diploma in Medicine (e.g., DTCD, DDV, etc.) in relevant specialty from recognized institution
- Must be registered with State Medical Council (Chandigarh/Punjab/Haryana) or Medical Council of India, New Delhi
- Registration certificate must be valid and current
Preferential Qualifications:
- Relevant clinical experience in Medicine specialty
- Experience in government hospital/PHC/CHC settings
- CCC+ (Course on Computer Concepts Plus) certification for 120 hours duration
- Knowledge of National Health Programs and schemes
- Experience in telemedicine and digital health platforms
For Specialist (Surgery):
Essential Qualifications:
- MBBS degree from MCI recognized University/Medical College
- MS (Master of Surgery) in General Surgery from MCI recognized institution, OR
- DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in General Surgery from NBE, OR
- Diploma in Surgery from recognized institution
- Must be registered with State Medical Council or Medical Council of India
- Valid and current registration certificate mandatory
Preferential Qualifications:
- Clinical experience in surgical procedures and patient management
- Experience in conducting minor and major surgical operations
- Laparoscopic surgery experience is desirable
- CCC+ certification
- Experience in government health facilities
Age Criteria
- Maximum Age Limit: Up to 62 years (as on date of walk-in interview)
- Minimum Age Limit: Not specified (must have completed MBBS and post-graduation)
- Age Relaxation: As per Government of India/UT Administration norms for reserved categories
- Retired medical officers up to 62 years can also apply
Remuneration and Payment Structure
Honorarium Details:
- Per Slot Honorarium: ₹2,000/- (fixed)
- Slot Duration: 2 hours per slot
- Maximum Slots per Day: 2 slots
- Maximum Daily Earning: ₹4,000/- (for 2 slots)
- Maximum Monthly Earning: Approximately ₹1,00,000/- to ₹1,20,000/- (assuming 25-30 working days with 2 slots daily)
Payment Terms:
- Honorarium will be paid on monthly basis
- Payment through bank transfer/NEFT
- Payment will be based on actual number of slots worked
- Duty certificate to be verified by concerned Medical Officer In-charge
- Payment processed by O/o NHM Accounts Section
- Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) as applicable
Slot Timing Flexibility:
- Specialists can choose morning or evening slots
- Slots can be at different health facilities on same day
- Flexibility to select number of slots per week
- No compulsion to work daily (empanelment basis)
Roles and Responsibilities
Selected specialists will be required to:
- Provide specialist consultation services at designated health facilities
- Examine patients and diagnose medical/surgical conditions
- Prescribe appropriate treatment and medications
- Provide guidance for further investigations if required
- Maintain patient records and case sheets properly
- Follow medical ethics and professional conduct
- Coordinate with general duty medical officers and paramedical staff
- Participate in health camps and awareness programs (if required)
- Provide telephonic/telemedicine consultation when needed
- Ensure quality healthcare delivery as per NHM guidelines
- Submit monthly attendance and duty certificates
- Attend review meetings with NHM officials (quarterly)
Walk-in Interview Process
This is a direct walk-in interview without any written examination or online application.
Interview Details:
- Date: 20th January 2026
- Registration Timing: 09:30 AM to 10:30 AM (STRICTLY)
- Interview: Will commence after registration on same day
- Venue: Office of Mission Director, National Health Mission, 4th Floor, Administrative Block, Government Multi Speciality Hospital, Sector-16, Chandigarh
Interview Procedure:
- Candidates must report at venue during registration time (9:30 AM to 10:30 AM)
- Late arrivals will NOT be entertained
- Registration will be done on first-come-first-serve basis
- Document verification will be conducted
- Interview by expert panel
- Selection/Empanelment intimation on same day or within 7 days

- Matriculation (10th) certificate
- Senior Secondary (12th) certificate

Terms and Conditions of Empanelment
- This is purely empanelment for providing services on slot basis
- No employer-employee relationship
- No claim for regularization or permanent appointment
- Empanelment valid for one year (renewable based on performance)
- Can be terminated with one month notice from either side
- Specialists must maintain professional conduct and medical ethics
- Any misconduct or negligence will lead to removal from panel
- Specialists can work at their own clinics/hospitals parallel
- Must inform NHM office 24 hours in advance if unable to attend scheduled slot
- Services can be requisitioned during health emergencies
- Empanelled specialists may be called for special health camps
- All COVID-19 and other vaccination protocols to be followed
