📝 How Is GDS Merit List Prepared?
India Post GDS selection is entirely merit-based on Class 10th marks. No written test is conducted. The merit list is prepared as follows:
- Basis: Aggregate marks obtained in Class 10th (SSC/Matric) Board Examination
- Tie-Breaking Rule: If two candidates have equal marks, preference is given to older candidate; if DOB is same, alphabetical order is followed
- Category-wise Reservation: UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD, Ex-Servicemen categories are considered as per government norms
- Multiple Lists: After the 1st merit list, a 2nd and/or 3rd merit list may be released to fill remaining vacancies against no-show candidates
