Preference will be given to candidates with NET/SET qualification in Library Science, Ph.D. in Library Science, or professional experience in university/college libraries with exposure to automation and digital library systems.
For Section Officer: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD). Additionally, candidates must possess at least 5 years of administrative experience in Central Government / State Government / Central Universities / Deemed Universities / Central Autonomous Organizations preferably in Establishment, Administration, or General Administration sections. Knowledge of service rules, conduct rules, financial regulations, and government procedures is essential.
For Assistant: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). Knowledge of Sanskrit language (reading, writing, understanding) will be an added advantage. Professional certifications, diplomas, or specialized training in the relevant domain along with 2-3 years of practical experience in similar roles will be preferred.
For Upper Division Clerk (UDC): Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). Candidates must have typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on computer. Certificate/Diploma in Computer Applications (CCA, DCA, PGDCA, or equivalent) is desirable. Knowledge of both Hindi and English is essential.

Age Limit and Relaxation Policy
The upper age limit varies according to the position: College Librarian - 40 years, Section Officer - 35 years, Assistant - 30 years, Professional Assistant - 30 years, Upper Division Clerk - 27 years, and Lower Division Clerk - 25 years. All age limits are calculated as on the closing date of online application (27th February 2026).
Age relaxation is provided as per Government of India guidelines and Central Educational Institutions Reservation Rules. SC/ST candidates receive 5 years relaxation, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates receive 3 years relaxation, PwBD (General category) candidates receive 10 years relaxation, PwBD (OBC) candidates receive 13 years relaxation, and PwBD (SC/ST) candidates receive 15 years relaxation. Ex-Servicemen receive age relaxation equal to military service rendered plus 3 years, subject to maximum age limit. Selection Process - Comprehensive Details
CSU employs a transparent and merit-based multi-stage selection process:
