SSB Odisha Junior Assistant and Junior Clerk Recruitment 2026 - Apply Online for 883 Group-C Posts
SSB Odisha Junior Assistant and Junior Clerk Recruitment 2026: The State Selection Board, Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha has issued Advertisement No. 01/2026 dated 09 March 2026 for recruitment to 883 Group-C posts of Junior Assistant and Junior Clerk in different institutions and departments of Odisha. This is a large combined recruitment covering Government Degree Colleges, NCC under Higher Education Department, Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), various State Public Universities and Junior Clerk posts in Non-Government Aided Colleges across 28 districts. Candidates looking for a stable clerical or assistant-level government opportunity in Odisha should read this notification carefully because the post preference system, category-wise vacancy structure and final merit preparation are important parts of the process.

The online application process is available through www.ssbodisha.ac.in only. As per the official advertisement, the online application opened on 11 March 2026 at 02:30 PM and the closing date and time for both application submission and fee payment is 13 April 2026 at 11:45 PM. No physical copy or hard copy of the online application form is to be sent to the Board. Candidates should keep in mind that this is a combined advertisement for several institutions, and while filling the online form they must enter their post-wise, institution-wise and department-wise preferences carefully because the order of choice submitted in the form will be treated as final and binding.

The total number of advertised posts is 883, out of which the broad category totals mentioned in the official vacancy statement are 223 ST, 157 SC, 87 SEBC, 416 UR, 33 PwD, 29 Ex-Servicemen and 3 Sports Person reservations. The posts are distributed across six major categories: Junior Assistant in Government Degree Colleges, Junior Assistant in NCC, Junior Assistant in BSE, Junior Assistant in 16 State Public Universities, Junior Assistant in OUHS, and Junior Clerk in Non-Government Aided Colleges in 28 districts. The district-wise annexure for Junior Clerk shows 349 posts in non-government aided colleges, which is the largest single component of the recruitment. Because the advertisement includes both institution-wise and district-wise distribution, candidates should check the vacancy structure and preference order carefully before submitting the form.

The pay scale for all these posts is Group-C, Level-4, Cell-1. However, the service status differs by institution. Government Degree Colleges, NCC and BSE posts are under government departments; State Public Universities and OUHS are under autonomous bodies; and Junior Clerk posts are in non-government aided colleges. The official notification also mentions that HRA, encashment of unutilized leave and some other incentives are not available to Non-Government Aided College posts. This point is important because many applicants assume that all 883 posts carry exactly the same service benefits, which is not correct. The cadre, appointing authority and service conditions may vary depending on the institution selected through counselling and merit.

For educational qualification, the candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. In addition, the candidate must have adequate knowledge in basic computer skill with certification. This means graduation alone is not enough; a recognized basic computer skill certificate is also required. For candidates who obtained qualifications from institutions outside Odisha, the Board has asked for proof of equivalence and proof of institutional affiliation wherever applicable. Candidates whose marks are expressed in grades or CGPA should be ready to produce the official numerical conversion formula during document verification.

The advertisement also provides several other eligibility conditions. The applicant must be a citizen of India and a domicile of the State of Odisha. He or she should be able to speak, read and write Odia and must have passed Odia as a language subject in the HSC examination, or in an equivalent examination, or must have passed a test in Odia of Middle School standard as prescribed. Government servants who satisfy the age and qualification criteria are eligible, but they must inform their employer in writing and produce a No Objection Certificate before document verification.

The age limit is 21 to 42 years as on 01 January 2026, which means the candidate should not have been born earlier than 01 January 1984 and not later than 01 January 2005. Upper age relaxation of 5 years is available to candidates belonging to SC, ST, SEBC, Women and Ex-Servicemen. Persons with Disabilities are entitled to 10 years of relaxation, and PwD candidates belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories may avail cumulative relaxation up to 15 years as per rules, subject to the conditions given in the advertisement. Temporary disability does not qualify for the PwD age benefit. Candidates must ensure that the date of birth in the application matches the High School Certificate or equivalent proof.

The selection process is transparent and objective. It consists of a Written Test of 200 marks followed by a Computer Skill Test of 50 marks, making a total of 250 marks. The written test includes General English up to graduation level (60 marks), General Knowledge and Current Affairs (40 marks), General Mathematics up to HSC standard (40 marks), and Reasoning & Mental Ability (60 marks). The computer skill test covers practical tasks in Windows, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Access. For final selection, the marks obtained in the written test and computer skill test together are considered, subject to successful document verification. In the event of a tie, the written test marks are considered first, and if the tie still continues, the elder candidate is placed higher as per date of birth rules stated in the advertisement.

The written examination is planned to be conducted in five zones: Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Jeypore and Sambalpur, depending on the number of candidates opting for each zone. The Computer Skill Test and certificate verification of shortlisted candidates will be held at Bhubaneswar. This is an important logistical point for applicants outside the capital city.

The application fee is ₹500 for candidates belonging to UR and SEBC categories, while SC, ST and PwD candidates have to pay ₹200. Payment is accepted through the online SB Collect mode only. The advertisement warns that candidates must enter the correct application ID while depositing the fee because payment against a wrong application ID may lead to non-submission of the application. After successful payment, candidates should download and preserve the submitted application form for future reference and document verification.

At the time of document verification, shortlisted candidates have to produce the printout of the online application form, HSC certificate, +2 and graduation certificates and mark sheets, computer learning certificate, photographs, conduct certificate, caste certificate, resident certificate, Odia language proof, ex-serviceman certificate if applicable, disability certificate where applicable, sports identity card if applicable and NOC where required. The Board has made it clear that failing to produce original documents may result in rejection.

Overall, SSB Odisha Advt. No. 01/2026 is a strong opportunity for graduates in Odisha who want Group-C administrative posts with a clear written exam and computer skill test. Since multiple institutions and districts are included under one form, candidates should avoid hurried submission and should carefully decide their preference order, confirm category details and complete fee payment on time.
